Our story
From WhatsApp groups to a state-wide forum
Maharashtra Minority NGO Forum's story is linked with Jakir Shikalgar's life story and his engagement with social work. It all began in Sept. 2018 when he was doing social work at an individual level. He understood that to work at a revolutionary level, everyone needs to come together on a common platform. He formed various WhatsApp groups and started sharing the issues untouched by NGOs — not only posting issues but also proposing better solutions. This led him to form a forum: MMNF. Within a short span it spread throughout the state. The idea of creating a forum connected more than 300 NGOs from 31 districts of Maharashtra State.
Alhamdulillah, MMNF is now a recognised state-wide organisation dedicated to the betterment of the community through its projects — Minority Development Centre (MDC), Community Development Centre (CDC), Centre for Social & Educational Research, Human Rights & Legal issues, Business, Paramedical & Skill Development, Women Development Centre (WDC) and Finance Development Centre (FDC). Through all these projects MMNF is committed to connect and co-relate NGOs from all corners of the state, to empower them and to empower the community at large.
MMNF creates a state-level federation of minority NGOs, as well as a group of experts called the Knowledge Tank. With the help of the Knowledge Tank, MMNF works to give solutions to the community in education, health, industry, business, skills, legal and financial matters — for the upliftment of the community in every way.

Mission, vision, goals & objectives
Our mission
Empowerment of NGOs with a state-level platform across various sectors for the upliftment of the community in all manner, and work for the rights of minorities — to educate and train the community via Minority Development Centres and Community Development Centres.
Our vision
Design a social network and strategic organisation to serve up to the grass-root level; to make social activists and NGOs aware, informed and trained to use government and non-government schemes; and to research all issues related to the backwardness of minorities and present demands to government and non-government organisations in a proper, systematic way.
Our goals
MMNF is a state-level minority NGO forum that aims to connect more than 500 active NGOs in Maharashtra and 3,000 at the national level, and to reach 20,00,000 beneficiaries through the network of NGOs connected with MMNF.
Our objectives
To achieve its goals in the upliftment of the community, MMNF is building a three/four-tier organisation that works in parallel with central government, state government, NGOs and social respondents engaged in nation building — and to create MDC, CDC, MRC and various facilities under one roof at every city and village level.
